Questions about some of the Michael Jackson items at the Music Icons auction in New York City this weekend?
Hopefully, I will only get responses from sincere people here, but I can only wish.

I browsed the online catalog for the big Julien’s Music Icons auction that is taking place this Saturday in New York City. I am interested in it due to the number of extremely interesting items that are up for auction having to do with The King Michael Jackson, including the Holy Grail of all MJ items, the left-handed glove he wore for his performance of Bille Jean on the Motown 25 television special where we all watched him moonwalk into the stratosphere for the very first time.

I have a couple of questions (and thoughts) on some of the items I saw in the catalog.

1.) Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Wedding Souveneir Chocolate Bar – Since when did MJ and LMP have a wedding? They were secretly married in the Dominican Republic and I have never heard anything about a wedding celebration taking place after the fact. Have you? I was surprised to see this item. Let me clarify that I am a lifelong fan starting way back with the Jackson 5. I am 43 and literally grew up on J5 and MJ. I never really paid attention to nor followed much tabloidy stuff about him though, especially when it came to his private relationships. So, am I the only fan who is perplexed by this very traditional wedding souveneir being placed up for auction? Please fellow MJ fans, enlighten me!

2. This is probably more my own thought but I would like to hear the opinions of others on it as well. Of course, as I flipped through page after page of Michael’s life and memorabilia (and therefore my own life and memories), I first felt excited about the prospect of owning one of these items, then I felt sort of contemplative, then I felt a cold and hard feeling in the pit of my stomach, and finally I felt overwelming sadness and broke down into uncontrollable sobbing. I just felt the worst kind of sadness. Sadness for the greatness that was, sadness for what we have lost, sadness for his children, sadness for what the memories of his career represent for my own life and the loss and pain I have experienced…with his soundtrack playing behind it all the while, sadness for a mother who has lost her son, sadness for all he gave and never received back, sadness for all we took and never gave back to him, sadness to watch a man’s life…any man’s life…roll by on a computer screen with dollar amounts attached to their meaning, sadness for the pain and betrayal he suffered throughout his entire life, sadness for so many things. Just the worst kind of lonely and cold sadness. I haven’t felt this awful since I first heard the news of his death. Obviously, I didn’t know I was going to have this reaction or else I never would have looked at the catalog at all.

But now that I have seen it, there are specific items that I feel should be in the hands of his children and not some corporation or millionaire collector who would view them as "cool trinkets." Wouldn’t it be truly wonderful if one or more of the many very wealthy celebrities/friends who claim to have loved Michael so much stepped up to bid on and win these items and then gave them to his children?

Specifically: The Motown 25 Holy Grail glove described above, the Jackson 5 original oil painting, his worn BAD World Tour jacket, all of his original drawings and sketches (these are so personal), the original handwritten "Beat It" lyrics, the black "Fantasy" glove, the blue "Fantasy glove, the original hadwritten lyrics to "T.S." and "Granite".

Lisa Marie? Sheik Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa? Any of you greedy Sony bast*rds? How about you, Jordan Chandler? You have the cash.

What are your thoughts or opinions on this?

For person 1, why are you looking to BUY her something? MAKING her something would be vastly more appropriate.

I once copied down a small books’ worth of quotes, and put it together as a sort of book and gave that to a friend. Finding the quotes, and picking quotes and poems I thought she’d like, and then organizing them, etc. It was a fair amount of work; that’s what she appreciated: the thought, planning, and work involved.

You could consider making things for all three.

Another way to go is to buy a LOT of inexpensive things, both useful and silly. It doesn’t cost much in total, but, since it’s lots of individual items to open and enjoy, it seems bigger than a single big present.

I don't know what to do in this situation? (My Parents)?
This is long, I’m warning you now. lol
Alright, well I’m fourteen… I live with my parents and 2 brothers. My dad is an alcoholic and like for the longest time I can remember him being like that. When I was really young, like six, seven and eight.. he was always the "enemy".. and he was always beating on my mom and taking out his anger on all of us. When I was ten he ripped the hand rail off the stairs leading down to the basement, and he started storming up the stairs growling.. and swearing… and I got so scared that I called the police. i was on the phone, my little brother was beside me.. and i was pretty much wailing on the phone explaining that i thought my dad was going to hurt someone. he noticed i was on the phone and he was so angry, he stormed out of the house and tried to "run away:"… he was really drunk. Well the police got him and he wasn’t allowed to be near us.

The reason I just explained that is because it kind of ties into my problems now.
Like, I feel that he hates me for calling the police. Although after I did, he was sober for a good year or so. I just feel like that is a reason why he dislikes me so much.

Well, now.. we all still live as a family and he still drinks, he’s not as violent but he still has anger problems. It feels like everything I do is criticized, and I have SO much anger inside of me.

At school, I’m like SO relieved.. and i have no problems with anyone in my entire grade, and nobody has problems with me. I don’t swear and I don’t get angry about anything.

But at home, everything ticks me off. If my mom is smoking in the house, I’ll go crazy.. calling her mean names and screaming. It’s like this huge amount of anger.. I can’t even control it.
Now my dad is saying that I am causing all the problems in our house, and that if I want to leave I am more than welcome to. He says he doesn’t want to provide any money for me.. and that he can’t wait for the day I move out. I am so glad I have friends that really care about me. But I feel like my family hates me. They say I’m crazy and that I need medical help, and maybe I do. I don’t know. Why am I so angry whenever I’m at home?

Can someone help me please… ??!!?

My guess is that you grew up seeing your father act like this and now some of his behaviors towards your family has rubbed off on you. You seem like a nice enough person. Maybe it would be best for you to move in with a friend or another family member such as a grandparent or aunt/uncle. You’ve probably built up alot of resentment towards your father (for good reason) and subconsciously take it out on your family. I think a change in your living arrangement would relieve you of some stress.

last friday me and two of my friends were on the late school bus (im 13, so im in 7th grade, and yes you squares out there we talk like this) so anyway i was sitting alone and this 6th grader sits in front of me and my two friends friend 1 and friend 2 sit across the aisle. ( i like my own seat) My friend starts being stupid so we all did, the Patrice asks me where I was going to be in 20 years. I said "well, I like that big red bridge in san fran." then my other freind looked at me with a grin and said " what are you crazy? the bridge is over water!" then i stared back with a quivering strait face and said "Oh YEAH! MERMAID! HIGH FIVE!" and raised my hand to her. the the sixth grader turns and squints his eyes like hes so smart and says " you know you people are L-A-M-E! you like so low to the ground and im in the sky." then he looked at me and said "DO YOU NEED PILLS? YOUR CRAZY!" then he turns to freind 1 (short temper) and says you look like a *ahem* word not to be said but starts with D and ends with K. she starts yelling! " you (* is a cuss word) * sucking son of a *! you look like a * with his head between my legs!" 6th grader: "no but at least i dont stuff a bra (hes a guy and my friends a real DD)" friend 1 says" yeah but ya daddy liked it!" and this went on till we all got tickets from the bus driver.

and what is the difference? I know with many green bean casserole is not a favorite so I found a few recipes that got raving reviews. One of them (Martha Stewarts) called for fresh, and the others were canned, however a reviewer mentioned that they used frozen green beans as an alternative. What is best?

And mainly, what is the difference between these 3 (Fresh, Frozen, Canned) in the OVERALL production?

The frozen and fresh beans still need to be cooked.

I think that fresh green beans are best. The taste and texture is the difference. Usually canned green beans are soft where with fresh they are crisp. So its really your preference on if you prefer your green beans crispier or softer.

Fresh beans are well fresh uncooked beans. Frozen are about the same a fresh because they a also uncooked fresh beans that have just been frozen. Canned have already been cooked. Fresh and frozen will be crisp and crunchy in your casserole and canned will be soft. What you use would depend on your taste preferance I prefer to use canned for G.B.C.

Fresh is ALWAYS best. Frozen comes a reasonably close 2nd when fresh are not available. Canned is always a distant 3rd and should only be used if the fresh or frozen are not available at all.

I’d wager that Martha Stewart’s recipe gets such rave reviews simply because she uses fresh beans.

To eat it, or not to eat it, that is the question!

My roommate bought a 12lb frozen turkey and has it in an ice chest with a bag of ice since Monday outside on the back porch. There was no room in the fridge. He injected it last evening and it was still mostly frozen, except around the very surface of the turkey. It’s still in it’s bag.
There was no cold water put in the ice chest as I’ve seen people suggest. The outside temperatures have been ranging in the 50-60’s.

He is a very good cook, but over time we’ve discovered we have a very different idea of what is safe to eat and what is not, also how to clean up after preparing meats, etc. He eats food that has been in the fridge for…eons, and doesn’t get sick. I have had food poisoning twice in my life, and am very careful about guidelines.

I don’t want to hurt his feelings and not eat his prepared food, or have a big discussion about it, and when it’s fried I might be sooooo tempted to eat it! I really would love to indulge in some fried turkey. My son will be coming as well, so not sure if I should ‘warn’ him or not.

Any idea of what the temp in the ice chest would fluctuate to and from? Last night the bag of ice was still about half full of ice.
