How to make a secret room?
Here’s the thing: I need a place to hide my clothes, and I have to do it quick. I’m moving 10 pounds of clothes everyday, and it’s getting tiring. It’s my little sister. She steals everything. Here’s the catch: It needs to be simple, but not able to easily be found. I have an apartment sized room as of now(It’s a basement.) I have a recliner I can move almost anywhere I want. I really, really need the privacy, too…I can’t go to the bathroom anymore without someone peering in. Any ideas?

I doubt you have the skill, money or tools to build walls and doors in your house. You should talk to your parents about your privacy issues with your sister. You can put a lock on the bathroom door easily (a hook and eye set from a hardware store costs less than $3). For your clothes, look for an old cedar or wooden storage chest at a used furniture store — you can install a hasp and lock on it easily if you want to keep others away from your things. Or if you have a closet, a lock could be installed on that.

May I suggest getting a trunk or an amoire and putting a lock on it. small trunks can be bought at wal-mart and they have a key. Can you put a lock on the basement door? do you have a basement door? A couple of small trunks might be the best thing for you, you could separate your clothing into them… blouses in one, pants in another and underwear in another, even shos could be placed in one. Also your toiletries jewerly and other items could be locked away in one. Being the only girl in the family with 3 brothers, when I was growing up….. years ago, I had to hide my money from them, I hid it in the heating vent in my room, they never found it there! They never bothered my clothes, but they liked to rip he heads off the only 2 dolls I ever had so I hid my dolls in between my mattress and box spring.
